    Dear Dr Spiel:


    Thank you for your letter of Sept 15th.
    I should be very pleased to read to the
    Osterreichischen P.E.N.. The difficulty is
    the date. I have to go to Berlin next
    Monday for rehearsals of Die Bassariden
    retuning here on Sept 30th. Then,because of
    engagements in England, I have to leave Austria
    earlier than I usually do, on Oct 7th.


    This means, in fact , th[]t the only two
    possible days for me are either Tuesday Oct 4th
    or Wednesday Oct 5th.


    Could you let me know if either of these
    dates is possible for you, ℅ Deutsche Stadtsoper,
    West Berlin.
