Dear Mr Auden,
Your statement which I will duly trans-
late seems to indicate that your case is being
conducted with utter idiocy. I am sure something
can be done to avert a court case and a lot
of highly unpleasangt publicity for the Austrian
authorities. I should like to write to Dr.Kreis-
ky and to show him your statement, if you
agree. However, I would like to ask you whether
you could not - for this very reason - shlithylightly
alter tzhe last words of your statemtent.
I feel, in all humility, that it would be
more impressive and less offensive to say
something like 'let me warn you that this
would cause a world scandal'. I should feel
happier if you would agree to this, in view
of my plan to involve Dr.Kreisky in the affair-.
Yours sincerely,
